The purpose of integrity and accountability This essay will explain what meanings of integrity and accountability and also what those mean to me. The definition of integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Integrity is the number one quality of leadership. Integrity in leadership is expressed in terms of constancy and consistency. It is manifested in an absolute devotion to keeping one’s word. The glue that holds all relationships together, including the relationship between the leader and the led,is rust, and trust is based on integrity.
Integrity is so important that functioning in our society would be impossible without it. We could not make even a simple purchase without a high level of confidence that the price was honest and that the change was correct. The most successful individuals and companies in America are those with reputations of high integrity among everyone they deal with. This has a big impact in the military especially in my line of work. It means that my supervisor can put trust in e when he sends me out on the Jet, to do a Job, and the supervisor knows that it will get done the right way.
It also means that when I get farther into my career I can one day become a responsible supervisor for the up coming marines that come from school. When I think about integrity it reminds me that it has consequences if you don’t follow what you believe in or you let the people that believe in you down. “Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobodys going to know whether you did it or not. said by Oprah Winfrey says that you should always do what is right when no one is around to inspect your work. l prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence” this quote is by Frederick Douglass. It states that you should always be true to yourself and do what you think is right so that you dont soil your name or make yourself feel like crap thinking about the mistakes you have made. “The truth matters… hat you don’t take shortcuts or play by your own set of rules… and success doesn’t count unless you earn it fair and square. this quote was said by the honorable Mrs. Michelle Obama stating that if you don’t speak the truth or play by the rules set by the people that came before us then you will either fail or feel like you didn’t earn the success that comes. The other topic I was instructed to write about was accountability or being accountable for the items that are in my possession. The definition of accountability is the quality or state of being ccountable or an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one’s actions.
Personal responsibility and accountability go hand in hand. Each Just as important as the other. Without one you cannot have the other. Essentially they are the same thing. Having responsibility basically means being accountable for your actions and or personal items at all times. Being accountable means knowing were all of your things are at all times. So basically without one you cannot have the other. accountability By Wesley-Shellman
