My novel has many themes that help tell the story. In my opinion the main theme is “abuse of power”. In Animal Farm, the pigs misuse there way of power. Over time they twist the ways of socialist revolution to change the way of the other animals behavior and to try and keep the other animals in the dark. After the farm, major, dies and the pigs take his words out of hand. They twisted his ideas of socialism. By the end of the novel, after squealers repeated attempt to change the seven commandments to try and tolerate the pigs teaching, the main view of the farm was “All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.
The pigs greatly misuse the word “equal”and see themselves as the greatest.

One of the biggest literary features in the book is irony. For example, after the animals take over the farm the pigs see themselves as the greatest. All the animals are supposed to be treated equal on the farm. Out of all the animals on the farm the pigs take over that word and become the ruling race on the farm. By the end of the book the pigs become more focused on the other animals instead of just focusing on the ideas of socialism but on the manual work of the working class.
Another key term in foreshadowing. At the chapter 2 and the establishment of the supposedly equal animal farm, the extra milk taken from the cows disappears and the books words imply that Napoleon had drunk it himself. Also, the dogs attack boxer, chapter 7, foreshadows the pigs betrayal of the loyal cart-horse. My personal opinion of the book is that I didn’t like or understand it thoroughly. It was very hard to understand and stay “into” it but it was even harder to translate the whole story into communism.
I understood some of it after extra research about the book and communism but I wouldn’t recommend the book to anyone who does not have a wide range of vocabulary or anyone who doesn’t already understand communism. It was also very boring and confusing, it pulled me in at the beginning but after the first meeting it lost me and I had to reread most of the book to fully understand it. “All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others. ” p. 133 Animal Farm Russia Soviet Union Communist Government(the pigs) Army(the dogs) Working Class(horses and other animals) The Barn The Windmill
