The idea that we are all born with rights, such as life, power of choice and happiness are the main aspects of our daily lives. However, many of us humans inconsiderately forget that animals also deserve these equal rights also. Animals are entitled to a painless, content life in their own natural environments. Animals should also not be exploited for experimental use nor detained in small cages. These actions are simply injustice and deprive the poor animals of their well-deserved rights.
I firmly believe that this is unacceptable and we humans should find humane alternatives to these filthy acts of harm immediately! Many animals around the world live under the care of humans rather than living in the wild. This is often referred to as living under captivity. These animals do not have a choice in where they want live as a result of humans invading their natural habitats and capturing them and taking them to zoos and animal parks, animals do not deserve to be encaged and taken from their homes in this nature.
The major problem with zoos is that the animals which live there are kept in enclosures that do not allow them to live their life in a natural way. No matter how big the animal enclosure is, or how much flora they place in the cages, no matter how beautiful they make the paintings on the wall, they do not compare to the natural habitat the animals were supposed to be. Zoo animals have to spend day after day, week after week in the exact same enclosure. This makes their lives very boring and monotonous, how would you enjoy being imprisoned in the same room for years upon years?
For instance, elephants are very social animals they enjoy travelling extensive distances in herds. However when in zoos elephants are kept in pairs or alone. Their enclosures are small considering that they love travelling and roaming around. Zoos are definitely not the right place for animals, they do not have any privacy as they are constantly watched by people, and they also minimize physical activity for the animals. It is no surprise at all that a large number of animals do not do well in zoos; it is evident that an animal’s life span dramatically decreases by 35 percent when placed in zoos.
It is also evident that zoos are not suitable for us humans either, in the recent years there have been many incidents involving animals and guest of zoos or with the trainers that work closely with the animals. This is just one of many reasons why animals should not be kept in captivity. Animals have been used for experimentation and research for quite some time now, this is act of cruelty to animals is simply unjust. Imagine living a joyful human life and eventually dying peacefully, then being reincarnated into a harmless rat, one day you are removed from your natural home and placed in a cage sedated.
Soon acids, chemicals, virus’ other harmful materials are injected inside you day after day. These injections eventually make you weak, sick and you lose most of your senses. There is no way for you to stop them or say no as the people do not understand you. Unfortunately this happens every day to hundreds of thousands of animals each day; this is not right and there needs to be an immediate solution and humane alternative. Animals should have the rights to live their lives peacefully and undisturbed. Sadly animal testing is a growing epidemic in many nations around the globe.
The end results do not justify the action of putting another animal in pain. Another reason why I believe that animal testing is not right and should not be practiced is that each animal or species may react differently to the chemicals being tested on innocent animals. Therefore the results collected from animal experimentation may be incorrect, misleading and irrelevant to humans or highly dangerous for our bodies. Many of the times experiments often fail and this of course results in the death of the animal used to test the products, if we are not careful soon there will be an increase of extinct or endangered animals.
Scientists need to reconsider other methods of testing products without harming any animal from any species without their consent. Wondering how you can help stop the abuse, captivity and exploitation of animals? You as a single individual can contribute your bit for the animals. Not purchasing products made by companies who practice animal testing. You can also write a letter in protest to manufactures, local governments and other important members of the community who may be able to help this serious issue.
Another great idea would be to write letters of encouragement and support to those few companies who do not abuse animals by not testing their products on animals. You never know this may encourage other companies to stop testing their future products on animals. With these small efforts you can build up a better world and life for our animals. What are some suitable alternatives to zoos for animals? Tracking wild animals by attaching a device to each animal, this way animals can be easily monitored in their own natural surroundings. This method is also very reasonable because it allows cientists to accurately study the movement of animals throughout the seasons.
In conclusion, I confidently believe that animals are entitled to a calm, content life. Animals should be treated with more respect after all they have played a key role in the development of our society, providing us with food, transport, and clothing. They should be treated with the same respect you’d show another human as they too are living beings which feel physical pain and suffer when neglected and abandoned. The fact that, we humans are also considered animals should be motivation to love and respect our fellow animals.
