Bluesbreakers by John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers ft. Eric Clapton
John Mayall’s second album “Bluesbreakers”, featuring Eric Clapton, was released in 1966. The album is essentially forty minutes of Blues rock that was able to earn the number six spot on the 1966 UK Album chart. Professional sources, AllMusic and About.com, both awarded the Bluesbreakers with a five star review.
The album includes slow and fast tempo Blues rock songs that feature the guitar and piano. Although repetitive, most of the song’s lyrics are catchy, and guaranteed to stay in your head for days. For example, the third song, “Little Girl” repeats the words “Little Girl” after every other line throughout the entire song. Most of the songs in the album have lyrics, however, the centerpiece of the album are the guitar and piano solos.
Today, John Mayall creates mostly the same type of music as he did in 1966, but “Bluesbreakers” is still his most popular album. Although I would not suggest buying the entire album, listening on streaming services such as YouTube or Spotify, will satisfy anybody who is interested in the Blues, or Rock and Roll.
