Importance of consumer to marketing strategy. Product decisions, targeting, distribution, promotion, pricing.

Marketing decisions affect all aspects of a company’s operations, from determining what type of product will be produced to how much to charge for the product. In addition, marketing considerations determine how the product will be positioned in the marketplace, and how it will be distributed. Although marketing is commonly and mistakenly associated only with selling or advertising efforts, it is a much more comprehensive activity that encompasses the fundamental operations of an organization. Regardless of whether an organization is marketing a product or a service, its marketing efforts can determine its success or failure. While many factors influence the direction that a marketing campaign takes, it may well be that understanding the customer is the most critical part of the marketing strategy.
