Advertising is a form of communication for marketing and is used to encourage or persuade an audience (Viewers, readers, or listeners; sometimes a specific group) to continue or take some new action. Most commonly, the desired result is to drive consumer behaviour with respect to a commercial offering and sometimes ideological offering.
Advertising messages are usually paid for by sponsors and via various means including the mass media such as newspapers, radio and television or the new media which is the internet. It is also an impersonal way of communication.. Another important key word to note in this research is hygienic living. This means tending to promote or preserve health. Hygienic living are steps taken to live a healthy life. Hygienic living is very important in our society today especially in our country today, where people are exposed to different kind of germs due to unhealthy and dirty environment.
In order to be able to carry out effective research on this project a product has to be studied.

The product for the research is Dettol. Dettol is the trade name for a line of hygienic products manufactured by Reckit Benkisers, there is the Dettol disinfectant liquid, Dettol Sanitizers, Dettol Antiseptic soaps of different kind. These are house hold products that are useful in promoting hygiene this is a very common product that is being used all over the country. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY This research is focusing on how advertising i. e. Dettol advert has helped in promoting hygienic living.
This means that has the advertisement of Dettol has been able to not just only influence buying behaviour but has also help in improving their hygiene by the usage of the product. Advertising is supposed to provide a consumer benefits or solve a problem. An advert must present a product in a way that creates a need for the product. Dettol soaps, disinfectant and sanitizers are advertised in a manner that alert the consumers of the presence of dirt and germs everywhere and that a constant use of Detttol products will clear the germs and protect the household from any infection and promote hygienic living.
In our country today where we are constantly expose to germs due to unhealthy environment which can cause diseases, where there are also a lot of products that fight against germs. There needs to be awareness about how to prevent these diseases and the product that fight against germs must be known to people. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The purpose of this study is to find out if advertising has been able to influence and promote hygienic living. Taking a crucial look at the advertisement of Dettol products and it effects on the consumer.
This tells the important of the study. It contains facts about what people research on and find out a useful information on the study i. e. literature review. It also includes the theory that best suit the study. The theory that will be used for this research is the social learning theory. The social learning theory was propounded by Albert Bandura in 1994. The theory believes that people learn from behaviour and is also influenced by the its environment.
In relating the theory with this research, it is important to note that consistent, persuasive and informative advert create awareness and this in turn may influence not only the buying behaviour of a person but also the usefulness of such product. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Here a survey research method will be used where measuring variables and questioning them. Data will be use to generate result of data collected and different variables. Questionaire will be administered here. CONCLUSION At the end of the research, we should be able to find out if advertising really influence and promote hygienic living
