” Now, you would think Jazz is a very fundamental genre to obtain but, that is not the case. Being a Nicola Jazz Studies Major”, I observe the art of Jazz frequently, and I have come to legalize there are several different forms of Jazz. For example, Swing is a form of Jazz that originated in the sass’s which gave more of the dancing, head bobbing, and foot tapping feel to the atmosphere. There Is one particular thing that both forms share, and that Is they both require you to be energetic but, have you ever Just wanted to listen to a song without feeling the need to sing or do too much? Have you ever wanted to listen to music for a change so you could relax?Have you ever wanted meeting that will give you the feel of an ocean lightly moving from the blow of the wind? I know I have and you can as well. “Cool Jazz was at the forefront of Jazz and went through its most concentrated growth and development from 1949 – 1955.

“Cool” also has affiliation with “West Coast” Jazz In California. ” Back then, jazz was often simply called “hot music” by the public, and the Idea that It could also be “cool” went worldwide. Cool Jazz eases you more than any other form of Jazz, it has a feathery tone that is slower than upbeat Jazz today and has more of a relaxing field. There are a few forms of Jazz that have been pretty much forgotten from the modern day world, but Cool Jazz is not one of them. Cool Jazz is a style of modern day Jazz music. I personally enjoy Cool Jazz because It has a lot of soft flight to It. Like Thomas Jefferson said, “Always take hold of things by the smooth handle.

” Cool Jazz has a way of calming and focusing your energy on anything that you are doing. For example, let us say you are trying to work on an essay, you turn music on and the click music starts to play, you are removed from thought and your energy has been diverted on raying to remember the lyrics than on your paper. When Cool Jazz starts to play, you find yourself In a trance as if a very beautiful siren Is singing a lullaby to you, and you are one with the music Instead of against It. Joe Henderson famous song “Blue Boost” represents a lot of the facts of Cool Jazz. Blue Boost was a famous Cool Jazz song that was made by Joe Henderson one of the master improviser from the late sass’s. His ability to play the saxophone made the effect of Cool Jazz apparent by using his music alone to talk to people, not words. He used his talent to draw in his audience using the vibrant notes he played.

His way of playing would take you by the ear like good smelling food would take you by the nose and pull you to where ever It Cool Jazz is significant in many ways. It presents a pleasant opportunity to the audience than any other genre of music. There are so many complex things that go into Cool Jazz that you would never know. There are certain orders that Cool Jazz, along with other forms of Jazz follow in. The main order that Jazz itself comes in is the intro, melody that is played twice, the solos that come after the melody, and then the gig finale. In the song “Blue Boost” there is only one performer. The order of the song comes with the intro, also, the melody which is played twice and the soloist.

Unlike most Jazz songs, in “Blue Boost” Joe Henderson is the only one playing and improving throughout the song then back in with the melody and big finale. The importance of this order is what makes Cool Jazz in particular have such a lighter sound. With every step of the order that is being presented there is control in every note that is being made. What makes Cool Jazz so light is the instrumentalists know when to be strong ND die down with their performance. If one is being to loud, how can you hear what else is going on in the musical piece? It is Just like when you are trying to balance rocks on both sides of a balance beam. How can that work if there are more rocks on one side than the other? In every solo that is being done, each one is different and has its own meaning that will surprisingly make sense to you when you really listen. You also have to realize that with this entire performance going on you must have someone who is combing.

Combing is an accompaniment that works with the soloing ND improving. You are not Just listening to something that’s pretty much giving you all the answers, when you think of it more of a technical level you are making your own problems and solving them as well. Once you have solved the problem, things go by a lot smoother. When things around you flow, you have more of a level headed attitude. This is why Cool Jazz calms you so. Knowing this makes Norman Manacle’s quote easier to understand. “Well rounded forms give smooth sounds; sharper or angular forms give harder, harsher sounds.

“The fact of the matter is Cool Jazz is like no other genre of music. Cool Jazz requires more finesse. For example, think of the notes and tunes you listen to, the notes are more drawn out and things fade instead of making an abrupt start and stop to it. Cool Jazz takes a lot of thought and hard work, but comes out as if it is very simple. I believe that Cool Jazz and other genres, along with it, tie into the real world in many ways and can teach you some important things in a musical point of view. Once you have realized this, it is much easier to understand all together. In life people have tendencies to get stressed out over a lot of things, as well as blow things way out of proportion before they even sit down and think about what else is going on.

If people would relax more and take deep breaths, bad situations would be better to deal with than how things mostly are now. The same goes for music as well. Like John Fordham words. “It was an ethereal, drifting cloud music that used French horns as well as regular Jazz instruments, highly wrought arrangements and rich tone colors, through which the soloists played in a measured, walking-on-eggshells manner. ” Simple yet so complex.
