This will cause humans suffering like skin cancer and UV radiation may kill plankton. CFCs will also cause global warming. We should take action to protect our ozone layer. We have to ban the use of CFCs products. United State have already signed a treaty to phase out CFC production, known as the Montreal Protocol. Besides, we should always unplug or switch off electronic instruments when they are not in use. We can plant trees as they absorb the UV rays and try to use products which are labeled ‘Ozone-Friendly’. In conclusion, we should start now to care for and save our earth.
Introduction Ozone is a gas that occurs naturally in our atmosphere. Most of it is concentrated in the ozone layer, a region located in the stratosphere several miles above the surface of the Earth. Although ozone represents only a small fraction of the gas present in the atmosphere, it plays a vital role by shielding humans and other life from harmful ultraviolet light from the Sun. Factor of Ozone Depletion Human activities in the last several decades have produced chemicals, such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). It has been released into the atmosphere and has contributed to the depletion of this important protective layer. In fact, the most important cause which accounts for almost 80% of the total depletion of ozone layer in the stratosphere are CFCs. Now chlorine monoxide reacts with an ozone molecule to form a chlorine atom and two molecules of oxygen. The free chlorine molecule again reacts with ozone to form chlorine monoxide. But it is difficult to do so because so many products including refrigerator, air-conditioning, cleaning agents and so on contains this product.
CFCs would remain in the stratosphere for another 100 years if none we have taken for the problem. Developed countries like the United States have already signed a treaty to phase out CFC production. On the date of 16th September 1987, the Montreal Protocol to prevent ozone depletion was opened for signing. This will be highly significant as these countries produce three quarters of the CFCs’ product in the world. Companies are finding substitutes for CFCs, and people in general are becoming more awareness of the dangers of ozone layer depletion.

Recommendations Government should always take action. Not only to organize the “Earth Day” on 22 April but also to find the way of looking on the residents’ co-operation. Citizens should always support the government and do their own respond of how to protect our ozone layer. Companies should not use the ODS and turn to product that is ozone-friendly as many as possible.
