Should People Get Cosmetic Surgery? Overview: Cosmetic surgery has become more popular for modern people. Some people believe that it is a science to increase the beauty of a person. The basic aim of this surgery is to enhance the appearance of the individual that is done by altering the parts of the body. On the other hand, other people disagree with it. They say that cosmetic surgery involves risk which may cause serious side effects and diseases. In the recent years the technology and concept of cosmetic surgery has changed.

The conceptual changes have differed the approaches to facial aging, especially as it relates to the forehead, eyelids and lower face. Technological changes include the increasing use of lasers for facial cosmetic surgery, and invasive techniques for face, breast and body sculpting surgery. It also improves Sinus diseases where narrowed nasal passages prevent the regular air flow through the nose. Other patients receive breast reconstruction surgery after suffering from breast cancer. Birth defects and deformities that inhibit daily activities that can be fixed by, a chin implant or even a jaw implant if the formation of the jaw and chin affects facial movement or eating. Dog bites and car accidents can cause serious unappealing lacerations, injuries, facial fractures, hand injuries, or trauma to the upper and lower extremity.

Burn victims may also require reconstructive surgery. Individuals can persuade themselves to get cosmetic surgery in the process of divorce or mourning the death of a loved one or suffering a mid-life crisis and then become unhappy with the results, where as they should first resolve their emotional crisis then think about having cosmetic surgery. Some people want to look like a celebrity but cosmetic surgeons cannot perform miracles and a lot of people have unrealistic expectations that cannot be completed they way they imagined. Conclusion: In conclusion, if done for the wrong reasons the patient can say “Ok what can I get done next? ” or they may not feel fulfilled mentally with the results and that can lead to them becoming addicted to cosmetic surgery.

But if done for the right reasons and with realistic expectations it should not become addictive and have positive results. People should feel more in balance, now that their appearance matches how they feel on the inside/mentally.
